Detective story about the fictitious marriages between the American soldiers and the brides from the countries of East Europe, predominantly from CIS, still develops in the court and in the press. Defense Criminal Investigative Service of the Navy finally completed two-year investigation in this matter. 40 swindlers are already convicted and some weeks ago thirty three more swindlers were arrested. Among 16 fictitious wives from this last “33” – are nine Russian women and three Belarusian women. All American participants of this marriage fraud are NAVY soldiers.
At the naval base Norfolk (state of Virginia), one of the largest in USA, for some years there were rumors, that it is possible to earn good money, creating fictitious marriages. Two years ago Defense Criminal Investigative Service finally interested in this information. The marriage fraud plan was maximally simple. Seamen were getting married with young foreigners, predominantly from East Europe countries, whose age was from 21 year up to 28 years. Marriages were fictitious, because wife and husband did not live together. In general, Brides were from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, arrived into USA for studying or for visiting someone. With the help of fictitious marriages they got Green Cards, and, in future they could simply get American citizenship.
According to the reports of newspaper “Virginian- pilot”, seamen received from brides the reward in the sum from 1 up to 6 thousand dollars, but the main bait were so-called “house money”. By rules, family soldiers receive 1,2 thousand dollars per month from Government for house rent. In such a way some of the prisoners earned up to 40 thousand dollars. The general damage to the Government, according to the materials of this case, is about 225 thousands dollars. Future “husbands and wives” became acquainted in the bar “Ocean View”, and registered their marriages in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. So called “match-makers” were introducing future “family” to each other. One of them, Michael Wolf, organized not less than four fictitious marriages. Michael was responsible for fianc?s selection. His wife, Nataliya Lukina was responsible for brides searching. Now she is also arrested on the charge of swindle.

The investigation was made, in general, with the help of informants – already arrested “husbands” and “wives”. Many of “wives” knew each other. Three friends arrived into the court room to support Ukrainian girl Valeriya Tsimbal, who was arrested in October and, after all, who received four months of prison. They all also were arrested afterward on the same charge. One of girls, Tatiana Smuraya, for example, after learning about the arrest of her friend and after understanding all the seriousness of the case, asked “husband”, Samuel Strasbah, to move into her house to create the visibility of family. Seaman agreed, but with one condition – if his girlfriend will also live with them. Such an interesting “family” was created. The major part of accused girls and boys were arrested in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Police were searching for the rest of them in eight different states and also in California. Two persons now escaped and police is searching for them. As a result of this case, “husbands” received suspended sentences and were fired from work. American justice was more sternly to the “wives” – now these girls will spend one-two months in prison and some of them will spend there about one year. Then they will be deported from USA and included to “black list” of immigration services, so they will never come back to USA again.
So, as you see in this world we have not only girls, but also men scam. Sooner or later everything will be disclosed, so the best way to have free and happy life is to get marriage with real love, real beloved ones.
